M.A.F.I.A. FOR NIKE BESPOKE ID
Thanks to IZY and DEMETRIA at NIKE NSW (21 Mercer St, Soho NYC) plus my main girl LORI LOBENSTINE of FEMALE SNEAKER FIEND fame, we were given the chance to create our very own NIKE BESPOKE ID. Now usually this illusive and exclusive appointment only ID will set you back a down payment on a modest house but thanks to the generosity of the SWOOSH team we were treated on the VIP tip and allowed full access to this amazing consultation. IZY really takes time out to get to know not only about you personally, but your tastes, your sneaker fetish, what shoes inspired you in the past and what materials and designs that have struck a cord with you. I’m a pretty decisive panda, and had already decided on colours and concepts before I sat down. Walking through the room you see so much inspiration, colour, materials and possibilities you could literally spend days making up new combinations. My foundation was one of my favourite kicks of all time the NIKE AIR TECH CHALLENGE AGASSI (HOT LAVA)…something about that infrapink splatter atop the white, grey and black palatte that makes me pang. What I ended up with was a variation so removed from my original vision, but so much better than I could ever have imagined. Mind you the photoshop creation does not do the shoe justice, so I cannot wait for the next 6 weeks as I itch to get my babies in the mail!!!! Thanks once again to IZY and DEMETRIA plus LORI for setting the whole thing up...LORI’s purple pangers are going to be BANANAS!!!

I used a few variations on the materials I chose, like flipping the black leather to create a brushed suede swoosh…
This does not do the materials and colouring justice, but the toe box and upper mid section is a spastic metallic silver stretch leather, with safari accents on the heel tab and tongue tab. The Nike and Swoosh on the tongue tag has been switched to infrared, the lace locks will read YO! and MAFIA, what looks like cream suede around the toe and eyelet panel is in fact an off white, the sole is icy and there will be a safari infrared swing tag which reads ‘engineered by M.A.F.I.A. for Nike. Add to that three cross stitches on the outer of the toe box panel to bring together what I have named the XXX – RATED PUSSY POP NIKE BESPOKE. Cannot wait to get these in my hand in 6 weeks!

CLAWIN’ IT!
God love me some CLAW! Perhaps one of my fave female streetwear labels (due to the fact that she makes a men’s line as well, keeping fatty dukes over here flossed) it was an absolute pleasure to finally meet the first lady of graff at her offices downtown. And rocking a panda shirt, I lost my shit all over again. Thanks to my girl LORI LOBENSTINE of FEMALE SNEAKER FIEND for skipping all over NYC with me on my adventure – check out her post about it HERE! I stocked up noicely from the racks and racks of proddy as well as walking away the proud owner of a personally signed Claw print, Claw luggage and this sick New Era which I’m rocking above. Apparently this cap was released with the MOUNTAIN DEW bottle collab which never saw the light of day down under, but bless the cute ass socks off this boo of boos for lacing me with this exceptional cap! EMPIRE STATE OF MIND – NYC DAY 2
DAY TWO was spent doing all the touristy shit that needed to be done. A trip on the hop on/hop off bus would take us to all the sites and mad us all snap happy for old antique sky risers, a stop off at Times Square would bring the magic that is M&M WORLD (only in America) and of course Max and I had to throw up some gang signs with our favourite letter – M.
Where it all started and inspiration for one of my all time favourite tracks – Dj Jazzy Jeff and Fresh Prince ‘Union Square’ – the meeting place for a shit load of tourists!

CONCRETE JUNGLE – NY DAY 1
Coming over the BROOKYLN BRIDGE I finally arrived in NYC for the second leg of my trip…after a swift 1.5 hour flight from ATL. This is where the magic was about to begin. Staying with my insanely dope aunty Varda in the Village I was a hop skip and jump away from everything central in Manhattan. Not only that, I was fortunate to have my mate MAX also in NYC – she had the huge honour of showing her architectural works in the Guggenheim….ah my talentment friends! This was the foggy view as I rode over the BK Bridge and onto Soho….It certainly gives you goosies as you traipse over the windy bolty, and once youtube decides to actually upload my vids I’ll share some film footage of this majestic scene.
This be the amazemont aunty Varda who put me up in her cute little studio apartment just off Bleeker St. As soon as I arrived we headed out to WASHINGTON SQUARE DINER and feasted on some soul foods, then Max and I roamed Avenue of Stars til the wee hours. I hit the hay, in preparation for the big day coming. MICK BOOGIE and TERRY URBAN along with the good folks at LONG ISLAND’S number one sneaker spot EXTRA BUTTER were throwing me a massive party the next night…so it was all sleep tight aight, get some booty rest and prepare for the day ahead!
DINNER TIME
Seriously, this was actually my meal on my last night in ATLANTA. Cheetos, Peanut Butter M&Ms (seriously Australia you needs to jump on these bad boys and stock them on the asaps) plus for that minty fresh after taste, Junior Mints. It’s all because of the excitement of playing with that damn Ipad I bought that afternoon at LENNOX MALL in downtown ATL…could not tear myself away from the hotel room to get a proper meal!
Sync time…equals no sleep time!
This was what it looked like outta the box – I’ve now gone and raped the Apple Apps store and filled this bad boy with enough games and time wasting activities I will rarely see the light of day again. The battery life on the Ipad is amazeballs too – 10 hours of pure uninterupted fun times. The processor is incredibly fast and let’s just face it it’s pretty and I look like a mega tool, but I feel like a king!

WISH ATL
Possibly ATL’s finest streetwear store, WISH ATL has only been open a short minute but damn do they do it big. I was unfortunately not allowed to take any images instore – even after declaring I’d travelled 30 hours to get there…that story seemed to wear really thin with most stores, and even the flash of my SNEAKER FREAKER business card didn’t do the trick, and I gotta say, I kinda get it. The interior (especially the downstairs sneaker store) is so well executed that they don’t need any one jacking their ideas. All the fellas did me the grace of at least posing for a photo, which as one of them declared “we must like you, we ain’t never let anyone take our photo” – and I guess yes I was. I copped a nice pair of ADIDAS FORTITUDE MIDS – the one sneaker I was on the hunt for in the US, as unfort we won’t be gettin them down under. Throw in a WISH New Era Snap back and I was jumpin’ in my dacks! Make sure if you’re in the ATL to stop by the store and say waddup to the fellas – they’re super dope and easy on the eye!!!!

ATLANTA – LITTLE FIVE POINTS
After a killer day with SNEAKER FRIENDS ATL (Check my write up on SNEAKER FREAKER HERE - more pics to come when the blog decides to stop bein a lil’ bitch and upload all 500 shots) I headed to probably the best part of ATL – LITTLE FIVE POINTS! It’s basically a small street lined with alternative restaurants, record stores and crazy wig shops…not to mention an ill ass thrift store which had a pretty sweet collection of kicks on display for under $5 each. The meal above is what they call an entree…I mean c’mon…the size of their appertisers is ridick yo! Just down the block is WISH ATL, see above post and after pulling triggers there I headed to LENNOX MALL to cop my IPAD. The Apple Store was choccas and I had to wait 2 hours to get SERVED to even put my name down for one of these hypebeaster gadgets. Let me just say the wait is worth it. NEW ERA X SNEAKER FRIENDS PARTY – ATL!
Oh we killin it! It was all about SNEAKER FRIENDS this weekend in the ATL! GREG STREET got it all good with this dope ass NEW ERA released especially for the event. Rumour has it only 100 were made. The party itself was pretty low key until the VODKA came out…I hit that shit hard and ended up wasted after 1 glass…add that to jet lag and no sleep in 30 hours and you can only guess how loose I got. Props to all the fellas who turned out…CLARK KENT, MAYOR, PREMIUM PETE, ALL THE WAY DAVE, CTOTHEJL, MATT FROM NICE KICKS, IZZY FROM NIKE BESPOKE plus way way more…I just am too tired and exhaustment to remember! Noice view! After a quick shower and a major need for ZZZs, I hit up the NEW ERA x SNEAKER FRIENDS release party. It was poppin off with killer beats and sweet ass vodka. Five mega cups later I was ready for bed….Finally hit the hay at 3am…KILL ME. SNEAKER FRIENDS TOMORROW YO!
GEE SURPRISE
Thanks to my extra dope mate TRENT who holds it down for CASIO and G-SHOCK in Oz, I am now the proud owner of two EXTRA LIMITED G-SHOCKS from FUTURA and Japanese creative team HASLUX and shopping centre PARCO CITY. After I hit up the Japanese leg of the company to try and cop these amazing time pieces, the fellas held two aside and gave them to Trent to pass onto moi! I am certainly one lucky panda!!!
The HASLUX is def amazemont in the flesh, from the polished patent white on white face to the pink accents and patent watch band..it’s a work of art for the wrist yo. Limited to 35 in the world I am lucky owner number 4! The FUTURA is simplistic with a black on black tag on the watch band…def fresh ta def! I’ve been in love with the G-SHOCK brand since I was 17 (some 20 years now..cot damn!) I always say it, and I’ll say it again, it’s the one brand I have worn consistently since I was a teen! Gotta love a G-Spot! Stay tuned for more G-SHOCK news in the pipelines!
M.A.F.I.A. X MI ADIDAS
At the end of 2009 SNEAKER FREAKER were asked to launch the MI ADIDAS ORIGINALS station at the new ADI ORIGINALS store in CHADSTONE. I was delegated the task to find 10 VISH’s (VERY IMPORTANT SNEAKER HEADS) to create their own customised, personalised adidas kick…and the perks of the job allowed me to create not one, but two pairs. This is my pair…loud, proud and over the top…just like moi!!! I always loved fluoro pink and yellow mashed in with black and it’s safe to say mine are the loudest out of the 10 designs from the rest of the gang. You can read and see all the kicks HERE! Ever since I finished up at REVOLVER FRIDAYS and NOTORIOUS FRIDAYS at ROBARTA I’ve been hounded with gigs on a friday night…but I’ve really wanted to crack down and get a residency where I can really build my RnB/PartyJam/Hip Hop following. I’ve never been part of the (for want of a better word) URBAN scene, but always cut a piece of dance floor at clubs like BROWN SUGAR (ah, the late ’90s!), PLAYGROUND, SOUL CLAP and beyond. I made it a point early on in my career that if this was the type of music I was going to play, I wanted to play it at venues or nights that weren’t specifically targeted towards the RnB crowd – hence the reason so many of my gigs starting out were supporting rock bands and playing at places that had no other DJ spinnin my style. I’m truly honoured and excited to now finally be welcomed into the scene thanks to Peter and Adrian at ROCKSTARR ENTERTAINMENT with their weekly jam SCRIBBLE. Their vision for the night is exactly what drew me to want to be a resident. It’s the style of music I’ve always loved playing – all those old school jams that make you go ‘THIS MY JOINT’ – all those tunes that bring back incredible memories!
